I was just reading a recently published book on the art of sniper warfare. One of the photographs was of some Fabrique National (FN) rifle of similar appearance. They may be rifle caliber adaptations of 5.7 mm PDW.
Hey, this is nicely done from the artistic point of view. However, I'm looking at that and just can't imagine holding some of them in a stable position. Can you try and draw them with the shooter holding them? Illustrate the hand positions on the trigger/grip and the rifles raised to a shoulder?
I followed the general proportions of real compact weapons like the Tar21, the P90 or the FN 2000. I don`t think there is a problem in holding them. I`m not that sure on the one on the bottom left since it`s a little more sci fi. I think drawing a shooter holding them is a good idea. I think I`ll do that.
Please do Bottom left actually seems fine. There's that thumb placement. When I look at the top ones though, I can't seem to wrap my head around how the trigger hand goes there... There's space for maybe two fingers there, index and middle. Open thumb like english grip, not pistol one. But there's precious little space and wrong angles to support the gun from the bottom. Rifle has to be comfy, it has to just drop in your hands and sit there. At least that's my impression. But I'm not a specialist so I might be talking bollocks. :>
Still I'd like to emphasize that I really appreciate the artwork, creativity and effort behinf those, that's some job well done!
I think you`re right about the space for the trigger hand. I`ll make some adjustments to the whole holding/trigger area. Especially for the first one. Maybe I`ll add that thumb placement hole to the others as well. Thanks!
